Advanced Cadaver Course in Endometriosis Surgery Masterclass

Advanced Cadaver Course in Endometriosis Surgery

Join an intensive two-day hands-on course dedicated to advanced surgical anatomy and deep endometriosis surgery, hosted at La Paz University Hospital and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, in collaboration with the European Endometriosis League.

Designed for surgeons seeking to refine their anatomical knowledge and surgical decision-making, this course combines expert lectures, surgical videos, and practical cadaver-based training in a highly specialized academic environment.

Madrid, June 4th-5th 2026

The course will take place at the Anatomy Laboratory, Department of Anatomy, Histology and Neuroscience, Faculty of Medicine, Medical Campus, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Course Overview

This advanced training program focuses on pelvic anatomy, retroperitoneal dissection, nerve-sparing approaches, and surgical strategies for complex endometriosis cases. Participants will work through practical cadaveric dissections and expert-led sessions covering anterior, lateral, and posterior pelvic compartments, deep endometriosis nodules, bowel involvement, nerve identification, and advanced pelvic dissection techniques.

What You Will Learn

Participants will gain practical experience in minimally invasive access techniques, retroperitoneal space entry, parametrial dissection, pararectal spaces, identification of key anatomical structures, prevention of ureteral, vascular, and bowel injuries, and advanced approaches to deep endometriosis surgery.

The course will also include focused sessions on rectal shaving, segmental resection, bladder cystectomy, ureteral reimplantation, pelvic sidewall endometriosis, diaphragmatic endometriosis, ileocecal endometriosis, and nerve-sparing surgical strategies.

Faculty

The course will be led by an international faculty of experts in endometriosis surgery and pelvic anatomy:

A. Bokor, M. Mabrouk, A. Hernández, A. López, E. Spagnolo, A. Tejerizo, I. Pascual

Day 1

Hands-on surgical practice on cadaver and lectures.

The first day includes registration, welcome coffee, opening remarks by the course directors, lectures and videos on surgical pelvic anatomy, followed by practical cadaver-based sessions focused on minimally invasive access, retroperitoneal anatomy, parametrial dissection, pararectal spaces, complication prevention, and surgical treatment of anterior, lateral, and posterior pelvic compartments in endometriosis.

The day will conclude with a social dinner.

Day 2

Full hands-on surgical practice on cadaver.

The second day is dedicated to advanced dissection techniques for deep endometriosis, including simulated excision of pelvic deep endometriosis nodules, rectal mobilization, exposure of the retrorectal space, identification of autonomic pelvic nerves, pudendal nerve and Alcock’s canal, lumbosacral trunk, sciatic nerve, and surgical approaches to diaphragmatic and ileocecal endometriosis.

The course will close with a final discussion and take-home messages.
